Taxonomic remark According to its describers, Florigerminis, possibly the earliest described fossil angiosperm other than Nanjinganthus (whose angiosperm affinities are disputed) occurs in the Middle-Late Jurassic Jiulongshan Formation of Inner Mongolia, although there have been suggestions in the past (refuted by Cui et al.) that this formation is Early Cretaceous; angiosperm affinity and/or dating not currently confirmed by other workers (as at June 2022).
