Descriptive info Thallus, Late Triassic, Antarctica. [details]
Taxonomic remark From Bomfleur et al., 2009: Based solely on macromorphology, Litothallus ganovex may be interpreted as a lichen, liverwort, alga, or some part of a vascular plant. ... [However] It is improbable that the fossils represent bryophyte remains or parts of vascular plants ... the most plausible suggestion is that the affinities of Litothallus ganovex lie with some group of algae [Rhodophyta or Phaeophyceae].
