Taxonomic remark Not Prodaphaenus Matthew, 1899, the latter cited as a nomen nudum in McKenna & Bell (and in the synonomy of this genus) but treated as an available name (with a different type, i.e. P. uintensis not P. scotti) by other, more recent workers, refer e.g. Friscia & Rassmussen, 2010. Therefore a preoccupied name; next available name is Miocyon Matthew, 1909 according to the same workers. [details]
