Taxonomic remark Originally introduced in 2015 by Cavalier-Smith for rappemonads, "plastid-bearing sisters of Coccolithophyceae plus Pavlovophyceae" (known from plastid ribosomal DNA in environmental samples only), however without any assigned, named taxa (none were known at that time); re-introduced by Kawachi et al., 2021 (?nomenclaturally correct) with single order Pavlomulinales, family Pavlomulinales and genus Pavlomulina.
