Taxonomic remark Name created by Zhang et al., 1998 for Meghystrichosphaeridium chadianensis Chen & Liu, 1986 following their transfer of the type species of Meghystrichosphaeridium (M. wenganensis) to another genus (as syn. of Asterocapsoides sinensis), effectively re-defining the genus name with a new type species and new authors, however this is not sanctioned by the botanical Code, effectively creating a junior homonym. The invalid name Meghystrichosphaeridium Zhang et al., 1998 was subsequently replaced by the new name Mengeosphaera Xiao et al., 2014. [details]
