Taxonomic remark Zhang et al., 1998 synonymised the type species of Meghystrichosphaeridium Chen & Liu with Asterocapsoides sinensis, and announced the creation of a new "Meghystrichosphaeridium" with their own authorship and a different type species, however this action was invalid according to ICBN rules. Subsequently, Zhang et al.'s "Meghystrichosphaeridium" was replaced by the new name Mengeosphaera Xiao et al., 2014.  [details]
