Taxonomic remark Inter-generic hybrid (Hildewintera F. Ritter (nom inval., now Cleistocactus) × Pygmaeocereus H. Johnson & Backe). From Eggli, 2018: Arguably invalid since the name is published in the form of a "suggestion for a trivial name" [p. 15, translated], and in addition, [Hildewintera] is an illegitimate name. van der Meer, 2019 lists this name in the synonymy of his new genus Borageocereus, however that appears to be inconsistent with his stated parentage for the latter name (=(Haageocereus Backeb., 1933 × Borzicactus Riccob., 1909).
