Vitrellaceae and Chromeraceae together form the group Chromerida, originally erected as a phylum, treated as an order (alongside Colpodellida) in Ruggiero et al., 2015 but absorbed into Colpodellida in Adl et al., 2019; the terms "chromerid" and order Chromerida are, however, still found in some more recent works. [details]
