Taxonomic remark Plagioselmis prolonga is the haploid form of the diploid Teleaulax amphioxeia and the 2 genera are therefore synonyms, refer Altenburger et al., 2020. Plagioselmis was originally invalidly described (no type species designated) by Butcher, 1967; a subsequent type designation by Chrétiennot-Dinet, 1990 designated P. prolonga as type species but failed to give a full reference to Butcher’s description; the first valid description was by Novarino et al., 1994. [details]
