Taxonomic remark Not validly published. (Index Nominum Genericorum), however name accepted in Downie, 1982 and Williams, 2012. From Downie, 1982: Protoarchaeosacculina Naumova 1961 was described in the
same paper as Archaeoperissacus Naumova 1961 and Megasacculina Naumova 1961. They appear to differ only in size, and may be synonyms, of which Protoarchaeosacculina is senior. In 1968 Naumova united Archaeoperisaccus and Protoarchaeosacculina in a new invalid genus Archaeosacculina Naumova 1968. Timofeyev erected a new genus Pterospermopsimorpha Timofeyev 1966 which also appears to be a junior synonym. Inspection of the holotypes of the type species has not been possible and final judgement is reserved. [details]
