Taxonomic remark Appears to be a variant spellng of Lemanea Bory, 1808. Included species, cited in Index Fungorum as Lemania pluvialis Bory, in Agardh, Syst. alg.: 42 (1824), is probably not a red alga but a cyanophyte: listed as a syn. of Stigonema pluvialis in Levrault, 1827, "Dictionnaire des sciences naturelles". (Note, Lemanea and related genera, although taxonomically red algae, are not actually red in colour and may be confused with algae from other groups). [details]
