Taxonomic remark Compsocerus was first used by Lacordaire in 1830 with no description and type Saperda barbicornis Fabricius, 1793. That species is the type or Paromoeocerus Gounelle, 1910. It is accepted that Compsocerus Audinet-Serville has for type a new species Compsocerus barbicornis, but Compsocerus Lacordaire must be rejected to maintain nomenclatural stability. No such proposal has yet been made. [details]
