Descriptive info Fossil according to SN2000 [details]
Taxonomic remark The Neave (Nomenclator Zoologicus) entry for this name reads "Agassiz 1841, Rep. Brit. Assoc. (Glasgow, 1840) 10, Trans., 99 [n.n]; 1844, Reich. Poissons foss., 2 (1), 302, 308 [n.n.]; 1844, Poissons foss., V.G. R., 22.", overlooking the treatment by Miller, 1841 in which the name is made available according to other authors; its correct authorship thus appears to be "Miller, 1841 ex Agassiz" or simply "Miller, 1841". A similar situation exists for Agassiz' MS genus Pterichthys, also discussed/treated in Miller, 1841, for which in this instance Neave does recognise Miller's description as the valid one for nomenclatural purposes.
