Taxonomic remark Originally erected as animal name in Bryozoa, Linnaean species E. fragilis and E. divaricata now assigned to red algal genera Tricleocarpa and Galaxaura, respectively, refer Huisman & Townsend, 1993. At least E. foliacea L. is a bryozoan (type species of Flustra according to Gordon, 2008; IRMNG synonymy follows this species at present). Includes some species now assigned to Receptaculitids. Authority quoted in some sources as Lamarck, 1801 but most likely this is incorrect. [details]
