Taxonomic remark Basionym: Nitella subg. Cristatella G. Stache, 1889, refer Horn af Rantzien, 1956. According to Horn af Rantzien, the generic characters have been stated to be insufficient to distinguish from Nitella at the level of genus, however the two names have not been formally synonymized. Authoship given in ING as G. Stache, 1889, correct for the subgenus but incorrect at generic level. [details]
