Taxonomic remark Junior homonym of Archaeotherium Leidy, 1850 (fossil Mammalia); proposed replacement names are Archaeodon von Huene, 1925 (available name but the taxon would not be valid if a pseudofossil) and Namibius Kretzoi & Kretzoi, 2000 (superfluous replacement name). Described as fossil mammal tooth, but a pseudofossil (infilling of a gas bubble) according to Hopson & Reif, 1981; contrary to those authors' statement, the name remains available for homonymy in zoological nomenclature, refer ICZN Code, Article 2.2.
