Taxonomic remark Originally assigned to Aplodontidae; as unallocated Aplodontoidea in McKenna & Bell, 1997. However, Vianey-Liaud et al., 2013, state: Epeiromys spanius (A1, as only the lower teeth are known), which is considered to be a ‘"problematic taxon’" within the Aplodontidae by Korth (1989, 1994b), appears here not only out of the Aplodontoidea clade, but also out of the Sciuroidea clade.
