Taxonomic remark Neave (Nomenclator Zoologicus) has entries for "Ombellula Cuvier 1798, Tab. Elém., 675" (correct year is actually 1797) and "Umbellula Cuvier 1800, Leçons Comp. Anat., 1, tab. 9 [n.n.].". In Opinion 1903, 1998, the ICZN ruled Ombellula to be an original incorrect spelling, with Umbellula the correct spelling dating from the same work in 1797, making Umbellula Cuvier 1800 a later usage of the same name.
