Taxonomic remark Bory's original genus Tripos may have included a variety of taxa e.g. including Trematode larvae. After being treated as a synonym of Ceratium for many years, the name was revived by Gómez, 2013, for the marine species of Ceratium, after discovery that the previously selected name, Neoceratium
