According to AlgaeBase (2019 version), the type species A. marginata Meneghini is currently regarded as a species of Microcystis, however the genus is treated as accepted; CyanoDB (2019) has the genus listed as a synonym of Chroococcidiopsis Geitler, 1933, which does not fit either with the priority of the respective genera or with the assigned species list in CyanoDB. The genus is retained as accepted in IRMNG pending additional information. [details]
