Nomenclatural status orthographia [details]
Taxonomic remark From AlgaeBase: Named for Auguste-Jean-Marie Bachelot de la Pylaie (1786-1856) ... Although the family name was spelled Bachelot de la Pilaie, after about 1820, he signed himself B. de la Pylaie or simply De la Pylaie (Silva et al. 1999). There has been a lot of dispute about the precise spelling of the epithet derived from his name, which culminated in the spelling "Pylaiella" being conserved (Silva, Lamy & Loiseaux-de Goër 1999). The spelling "Pilayella" has been used in many publications. [details]
