Taxonomic remark According to Eschmeyer, Mees 1988 states that Amaralia is an objective synonym of Bunocephalus Kner 1855, however Mees' interpretation (that the type species of Bunocephalus is B. hypsiurus Kner 1855, not Silurus verrucosus Walbaum 1792) is not accepted by Eschmeyer and other workers e.g. Ferraris 1991 and elsewhere, refer Eschmeyer.
