Taxonomic remark From Herendeen, 2021: Camptopteris, which included five species when the name was established, was a superfluous name because it included the type of the genus Quercites H. Berger, Quercites lobatus H. Berger, which was based on a heterogeneous assemblage of specimens from two different localities ... Conservation of Camptopteris with C. spiralis as a conserved type is necessary. If not conserved, the names Camptopteris and C. spiralis would have to be abandoned, requiring new generic and family names instead of the established Camptopteris and Camptopteridaceae. The Committee was convinced by the proposal that conservation was appropriate in this case and voted unanimously to support the proposal. [details]
