Taxonomic remark Considered an early angiosperm by recent workers, although Krassilov, 2012 considers its putative taxonomic affinities to be with gnetophytes rather than angiosperms. Gomez et al., 2015, assign Montsechia to angiosperms in its own family, Montsechiaceae. [details]
