Taxonomic remark See Lepesoma (Nomen. Zool.). Dyslobus Leconte, 1869 was created to replace the name Leposoma Motschoulsky, 1845 (also spelled Lepesoma), preoccupied by Leposoma Spix, 1825 in Reptilia. The alternative spelling Lepesoma is not preoccupied but according to Alonso-Zarazaga & Lyal, 1999 was rejected as an error by the original author (Motschulsky, 1845, p. 549) and therefore should not be used, although it is listed as valid by some current authors. Current taxonomic practice is divided between those using Lepesoma and those using Dyslobus as the correct name for species in this genus; Catalogue of Life 2017 edition, names sourced from 3i Curculio database, uses Dyslobus, while ITIS prefers Lepesoma.
