Taxonomic remark Ichnogenus (fossil insect traces). Genise, 2016 notes the describers' original attribution to "Geotrupinae pupation chambers" as the currently accepted one, but states: Genise et al. (2007) called the attention on other sub-spherical pupation chambers, such as those of ant lions, and also of casts of fruits and seeds, as structures very similar in shape to Pallichnus. ...Also, Pallichnus dakotensis may result from the inner cast of specimens of Coprinisphaera.
