Descriptive info Strobilus [later re-interpreted as an angiosperm fruit]; Eocene; England. (Index Nominum Genericorum) [details]
Taxonomic remark Originally interpreted as a fossil coniferous cone similar to that of Thuja, later as an angiospermous fruit belonging to Juglandaceae and senior synonym of Juglandicarya E. Reid & M.E.J. Chandler, 1933. Doweld, 2013, proposed to reject this name in favour of the more widely established Juglandicarya, a proposal that was recommended for acceptance by the Nomenclature Committee on Fossils (Herendeen, 2015) [details]
