Taxonomic remark According to Xaio & Dong, 2006 and other authors, Tawuia and Chuaria Walcott, 1899 probably represent different portions of the same plant, although Hoffman classifies them in different families based on their morphology. In these authors' view, Tawuia represents a benthic, tubular macroalga, with Chuaria as a possible planktonic, spherical cyst phase of the same organism. [details]
