Objectively invalid; preoccupied by Gonostoma Rafinesque 1810 in fishes; Bleeker 1849 described as Anodontostoma, with his species hasseltii (with "Gonostoma javanicum K. v. H." in synonymy but never described by them). Apparently Hyrtl 1855 was first to technically add a species to Gonostoma van Hasselt. (Eschmeyer). [details]
