Nomenclatural status nomen conservandum [details]
Taxonomic remark Nom. cons. versus Amphitholus F. Schütt, 1895. Amphilothus was introduced as a lapsus for Amphitholus F. Schutt by Kofoid (1907: 165, 206). Realizing that Amphitholus was preoccupied in zoological nomenclature, Poche (1913) adopted Amphilothus as a substitute name. Although Amphitholus is not preoccupied in botanical nomenclature, to avoid future confusion the ICBN has conserved Amphilothus as the correct name for this taxon, refer Silva, 1994 and ICBN, 1999, Appendix IIIA. A homotypic synonym of Amphitholus Schütt 1895 according to Index Nominum Genericorum. Listed as a superfluous substitute name in Index Nominum Genericorum, which was correct until this name was conserved. Gómez, 2017 re-studied Achradina, Amphilothus and Monaster and concluded that the three genera/species represented the same taxon, with the name Monaster having priority. [details]
