Taxonomic remark Proposed as a substitute name for Ctenopteris A.T. Brongniart ex G. Saporta 1873, non Blume ex Kunze 1846. (Index Nominum Genericorum). A homotypic synonym of Scytophyllum J.G. Bornemann 1856 and Dellephyllum A.B. Doweld 2001 according to Index Nominum Genericorum, however this has since been resolved by selection of a different type for Scytophyllum Bornemann, refer Herendeen, 2015. Popa & McElwain, 2009 (followed in IRMNG at this time) treat Ctenozamites as a synonym of Ptilozamites and assign both genera to pteridosperms, however elsewhere (e.g. in Doweld, 2012) Ctenozamites is listed as Cycadales. [details]
