Taxonomic remark Non Mossia N.E. Brown, 1930, same ref., p. 71 (ING). Brown erected the genus Mossia twice in 1930, intending the type species to be Mesembryanthemum intervallare Bolar, but initially and incorrectly citing the similarly named Ruschia intervallaris Bolar as type, correcting the error with the second description. Technically the second description forms a later homonym of the first, however in 1999 the Committee for Spermatophyta recommended that the first description be accepted, with the cited type species treated as a correctable error. Accordingly, both names are now treated as synonyms, with the second description a later usage of the first. [details]
