IRMNG - Otiorhynchus Germar, 1822

Taxonomic remark ICZN Opinion 982 (1972) validated Otiorhynchus Germar, 1824 while suppressing Brachyrhinus Latreille, 1802 ("[1802-1803]"), Panaphilis Dejean, 1821 and Loborhynchus Schoenherr ("Schönherr"), 1823 for priority but not homonymy, and Mecocerus Billberg, 1820 for both priority and homonymy. However an earlier publication year and work for Otiorhynchus was subsequently discovered and the authority for this genus is now cited as Germar, 1822, refer ICZN Opinion 2299 (2012). [details]
