Taxonomic remark This genus name is accepted in current palynological literature, although technicially it is invalid, being a junior homonym of Striatella C.A. Agardh, 1832, a diatom, currently the type genus of the family Striatellaceae. The genus is also listed as accepted in Zavattieri & Volkheimer, 2003, who list in its synonymy the more recent genus names Asseretospora Schuurman, 1977 and Rotinella Malyavkina, 1949, ex Yaroshenko, 1978; Asseretospora Schuurman is given as an accepted name in Zhang et al., 2021, and this is treated as the present accepted name for this taxon in IRMNG.
