Excluded from stromatoporoids (Porifera) by Stearn and Stock, 2010, who state: According to Flügel (1961, p. 71), this is a nonstromatoporoid sponge, but Finks, Reid, and Rigby (in Kaesler, 2004) did not include it with the Porifera.
