Taxonomic remark Listed as a genus un Nomenclator Zoologicus, but appears to be a version of the vernacular name "le nasique", the proboscis monkey, published by Daubenton, 1799 [unavailable for nomenclatural purposes], seen earlier and used as the basis for Simia nasica von Schreber, 1755, currently Nasalis larvatus, refer Harding, 2012.
