Taxonomic remark A junior homonym of Archaeodon von Huene, 1925, erected for a supposed fossil mammal tooth. The specimen on which that name is based was later shown to be a pseudofossil, however its name remains available for purposes of homonymy (contrary to the statement given in Hopson & Reif, 1981), refer ICZN Code, Article 2.2. A replacement name would be required were Archaeodon Crickmay, 1930 to be treated as an accepted taxon, not in the synonymy of Cucullaea Lamarck, 1801. [details]
