Taxonomic remark Ichnogenus (fossil coprolite). From Knaust, 2020: Originally described as medusoid fossils (i.e. Cnidaria), the genus Medusites was suppressed by Walcott (1898) and substituted by the new name Medusina to include coelenterate body fossils, whereas the coprolites described under this genus were assigned to Lumbricaria. Medusites is now regarded as a coprolite (Harrington & Moore 1956; Schweigert 2001). Medusites is interpreted as the coprolite of a small fish or coleoid (Schweigert & Dietl 2012). [details]
