Descriptive info Includes marine species (Aphia 2006). Marine, extant (?) + fossil: Cretaceous to Recent (Sepkoski 2002) [details]
Taxonomic remark From Oskars et al., 2019: The type species of the genus (Roxania utriculus) was included in
our analyses and clustered within the family Alacuppidae. However, specimens from the Pacific Ocean identified as Roxania did not cluster together with R. utriculus, rendering the genus non-monophyletic; a potential available name for the Pacific ‘Roxania’ is Mimatys. [details]
Taxonomic remark nec Roxana Stephens 1834 see Damoniella Iredale 1918 (Nomen. Zool.). Authority cited elsewhere as Leach in Gray, 1847. [details]
