Taxonomic remark From Escarguel, 1999: [in translation] In creating the genus Pallcimys, Hartenberger (1995) distinguishes two species in it: P. pourcyensis (Michaux, 1964) from the Pourcy and Rians deposits - here we attribute the form of Rians to the species Meldimys louisi (see above), and P. cordicingularis (Quinet, 1969) from the Dormaal site alone. The species Paucimys pourcyensis, initially described by Michaux (1964b, 1968), is in fact made up of two distinct forms: Ailuravus cf. michauxi (see above) and an indeterminate genus (see below, description of indeterminate genus 1), genus including the type specimen of P. pourcyensis (M2 dex. PO 29, figured in Michaux 1968: Pl. 1, fig. 10) and whose membership in the Ailuravinae seems questionable to us. In fact, in the current state of our knowledge, and pending better characterisation of this second form, we consider here the species name Paucimys pourcyensis as a nomen dubium, in consequence of which the genus Paucimys Harteberger, 1995, based on the species P. pourcyensis, is a nomen nudum (Pajaud 1989: 239-240). [details]
