Loeblich, 1965 and Loeblich & Loeblich, 1969 state that the type species D. clathrata is an ebriid, however other sources (including Suto, 2003 and AlgaeBase, 2021 version) give Dicladia capreolus Ehrenberg 1845 as the type, which is a diatom. [details]
