Taxonomic remark Herrera, 1899 suggested a new system of zoological names where the first syllable e.g. "Mam" would indicate the group to which the genus belongs (example: Mammalia in this instance) and all genera would have a standardised termination -us (to be added where not already present). These proposals were dismissed by ICZN in Opinion 72, 1922, with the result that all such proposed names are considered non-names (unavailable) for nomenclatural purposes. [details]
