Taxonomic remark Apparently not intended as a new name, Spix mentioned. Spelled two ways by Valenciennes: Paca in vernacular heading and Pacu with species lineatus (p. 9) and as Paca lineatus on Pl. 8 (names on plates normally latinized) [see Paca Valenciennes 1836]. Should be considered in analysis of validation of Pacu Agassiz (and Cuvier). (refer Eschmeyer). [details]
