Taxonomic remark Priapula and Priapulida are alternative names for the same taxon; the latter is in more common use (e.g. WoRMS / Paulay, 2024, also Catalogue of Life 2024 version and Google Scholar searches) although Priapula is used in Ruggiero et al., 2015 and ITIS at this time. Cited authority "Théel, 1906" is per Paulay, 2024, although other sources e.g. Peel & Willman, 2018 cite the authority for this name as Delage & Herouard, 1897; according to van der Land, 1970, the name "Priapulida" was first used in a textbook by Delage & Herouard, 1897, however a diagnosis was not provided until the work of Théel, 1906.
