Descriptive info Foliage; Jurassic. (Index Nominum Genericorum) [details]
Taxonomic remark Used for some large leaves of Taenopteris type, where indication of major plant group (e.g. ferns, cycads, bennettites) is unclear. From van Konijnenburg-van Cittert et al., 2017: Macrotaeniopteris Schimper, 1869 is used for large Taeniopteris-like leaves, but many species have either been transferred to Nilssoniopteris based on their bennettitalean type of cuticle (e.g., N. major or N. angustior (Stur ex Krasser, 1909) Pott, Krings et Kerp, 2007; see Pott et al. 2007) or to the cycadalean genus Bjuvia Florin, 1933.
