Taxonomic remark From Li et al., 2020: the genus Trimeresurus was split into seven genera (Cryptelytrops, Himalayophis, Parias, Peltopelor, Popeia, Trimeresurus and Viridovipera) by Malhotra and Thorpe (2004). With the adding of a new genus Sinovipera there are eight genera for the green pit vipers (Guo and Wang, 2011). But some researchers argue for the validity of the genus Trimeresurus and that the eight taxa should be regarded as subgenera (David et al., 2011). [details]
