Taxonomic remark Name as spelled in some recent literature e.g. Wu et al., 2009 and Benton et al., 2013, however appears to be incorrect: if its supposed basionym ("Sinasaurus") was spelled thus, it would not be preoccupied and therefore would not require replacement. IRMNG presently presumes that the original preoccupied name is Sinosaurus (original not seen) and that therefore the correct spelling of the replacement name is Neosinosaurus (per citation in Wu et al., 2009, but not the latter's text). [details]

Taxonomic remark n.n. pro Sinasaurus Zhou in Yin, Zhou, Cao, Yu & Luo 2000, in Chinese (Nomen. Zool.). From Wu et al., 2009: Neosinasaurus hoangi Zhou, 2000 (Zhou in Yin & Zhou, 2000)( = Sinasaurus hoangi Zhou,
2000 (Zhou in Yin et al., 2000)), Wayaosaurus geei Zhou, 2000 (Zhou in Yin et al., 2000), and Wayaosaurus bellus Zhou,2000 (Zhou in Yin et al., 2000) were originally described as pachypleurosauroids on the basis of unprepared specimens. Our examination of the true specimens indicates that both genera are thalattosaurians. [details]
