Taxonomic remark Synonymy follows Mayr, 2016. Probably congeneric with Scansoriopteryx Czerkas & Yuan, 2002; Epidendrosaurus appeared first online only, followed by Scansoriopteryx in print form the same year, thus under the prevailing edition of the ICZN Code, Scansoriopteryx has priority, although some workers prefer Epidendrosaurus. As at 2023, The Paleobiology DB lists both names as accepted without addressing the issue. [details]
