Taxonomic remark Pseudofossils are taxa which were originally described (either validly or invalidly) as fossil animals or plants, or portions thereof, but are now considered to be of inorganic (non-biotic) origin. The names, however, when validly published (available), remain in botanical and/or zoological nomenclature for the purposes of homonymy, etc., unless otherwise suppressed, and may also be revived if the taxon concerned is later reassessed as indeed being biological in origin.
