Taxonomic remark The Paleobiology Database (February 2023) lists Vivaxosaurus as a synonym of Fortunodon Kurkin, 2012, however this cannot be correct since Vivaxosaurus is the earlier name and was validly described; moreover Kurkin, 2012 (which includes the description of Fortunodon) discusses Vivaxosaurus as a separate, accepted genus. A 2023 Google Scholar search gives no later references supporting such an assertion, neither are any given in PBDB. [details]
